At Bales we teach A levels in classes of 2–7 students per class. We have specialist knowledge of all A level subjects and give the coaching needed to achieve improvement to the next level and on towards top goals of A and A*.
Bales College opened in 1966 as an A level and GCSE college. We expanded in 2006 to become a school from year 7. Our roots however are still firmly grounded in A levels and GCSEs. Our aim is to guide students into university and to lay the foundations to succeed beyond education.
Bales College is an independent school and sixth form for boys and girls aged 11–18, providing general academic secondary education from year 7 to GCSE and A level.
It is possible to feel isolated in a large group setting. In contrast, our small classes mean that everyone contributes to class discussion and interacts with the teacher and other students. There’s no hiding, or desire to hide.
Our teachers and leadership group give continuous personal attention. We get to know you as an individual and stay mindful, not just of what we teach, but how it impacts your own opinions and future direction.
We have four core values in our ethos:

Respect

Humour

Energy

Perseverance

Respect is for and between individual students and staff, and for the subject and task in hand. Energy and humour are brought into our working day, while our motto is Semper Perstare – always persist.

Teachers are highly experienced and share a passion

Bales our A Level teachers are highly experienced and share a passion to educate and inspire. We use a traditional approach when teaching A level subjects, from class work through to assigning homework and group work. We also encourage independent learning and working beyond the syllabus to help students form their own opinions and gain more self-confidence. In the build up to exams, we set even higher expectations and coach students for better examination performance.
