Structure of Bales College

Essentially the College is divided by age groups into:

Sixth Form College  and Independent School (Lower and Middle)

The Sixth Form College is run independently of the School and accepts students from all educational backgrounds who meet our entrance requirements of 5 A*-C grades at GCSE, or equivalent.

Students enrol at age 16 or 17 for entry into Year 12 and embark upon a two-year programme, at the end of which final GCE Advanced Level examinations are taken. AS level examinations are taken at the end of the first year.
Students also come to us to improve their A-Level grades over one year, to enter into their first choice university. With 40 years’ experience in teaching retakes, we often find that students exceed their own expectations!

Lower School

Year 7 is typically the starting point for students at Bales, although we do enrol students into Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 – subject to availability of vacancies. All students follow a detailed and carefully planned study programme leading to GCSE examinations at age 16.

Exams Results 2011

At Bales we  consider each student on their own individual merits. We accept students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and through a programme of individualised tuition we move them forward towards personal goals. The education we provide at Bales is about the process as much as the end point and for 45 years we have seen our students progress in to the wider world as well rounded, engaging young adults.

We are proud of our students’ achievements and look forward to the year ahead.
