Government and Politics

Government and Politics A level

The subject is taught using a variety of teaching methods; interactive learning, independent learning as well as power points, pair work and group work.  All students are expected to read a good daily newspaper and have an interest in politics.

Government and Politics at A Level is a popular subject which many of our students go on to study at university. We study the Edexcel course which focuses on British politics and the British political system in the first year.  In the second year, you will study one of socialism, conservatism and liberalism, anarchism, feminism, multiculturalism or nationalism. In addition, students must study US Government & politics where you will be invited to look at the Constitution and federalism, Congress, the presidency, the Supreme Court, civil rights, democracy and participation.

We provide an extensive range of extra-curricular activities to enhance the students’ political education. An annual trip to the Houses of Parliament benefits them greatly.
