Trips

Trips are often organised to tie into the curriculum.  Subject teachers lead excursions that relate to some specific topic being studied.  At other times, trips will be arranged to increase the general knowledge, awareness and range of experience of a group.  Sometimes, particularly at the end of term, leisure activities are arranged to reward good behaviour and achievement.

These trips are announced well in advance, and all students should attend as they do a normal lesson. A letter is sent to all parents/guardians of the students involved, explaining the choice of trip, and its relevance.

Recent trips included a GCSE Art class held in St Paul's Cathedral.  This formed the basis of coursework.  There was a Physics GCSE and Physics A level trip to Didcot Power Station.  Year 7 and 8 went on History trips to the Museum of London to see an exhibition on the Great Fire.  Year 9 went on a trip to the Imperial War Museum, which not only related to work done on the Second World War, but also increased their knowledge of the First World War and other conflicts.  Years 7 to 11 went on trips to an exhibition on skeletons at the Wellcome Trust Collection.  This was linked to both the Biology and History syllabuses.  Years 9 and 10 enjoyed a team-building exercise at RAF Hendon and all years had a great time at Thorpe Park at the end of the academic year.
