The majority of our students go from Bales College into university. Therefore careers advice centres on making sure that each student takes into account their future preferred career when making educational choices. For example, a pupil wishing to become an engineer would be encouraged to study mathematics at A-level, and to consider strongly studying engineering as a subject at degree level. A pupil wishing to become a lawyer would perhaps be encouraged to take English or History at A-level, as well as Law, so as to improve on writing and presentation skills.
Some of our students do, however, wish to pursue their career straight after finishing their A-levels. Our Director of Studies and Head of Examinations are often best placed to offer advice to students on choice of career, and particular subject teachers can always be approached if a student feels his or her experience would be helpful.
We encourage younger students to apply for summer work experience in fields that interest them, and can assist them in finding placements that would be positive experience.
