Boarding School in London, UK

Bales College is a private school and sixth form college in London for 11-18 year olds.

Roughly 15% of our senior students are from outside the UK. Many of these live with family in London and are day students, however we have space for 25 students in our on-site boarding houses.

We offer full boarding and weekly boarding (where students go to stay with their family on weekends).

The Boarding School is only for students taking GCSE courses and A Level courses (age 16 years and above).

Meals

Boarders are provided all meals, 7 days per week, prepared by the catering staff and served in the main dining hall. All other snacks are prepared by the students in the student kitchens.

Sports

Boarding school students have two sports sessions per week at the local sports hall (football, table tennis, badminton, basketball etc).

Monitoring

We have 2 full time boarding supervisers who live on campus and monitor the boarding accommodation. Quiet study rooms are available and the boarding monitors run supervised study sessions in the evening for Boarding School students.

Excursions

At the College we feel it is just as important for our boarding students to have a social and cultural education as it is as an academic one. Trips are organised according to a timetable so that each week students have at the very least one organised outing or activity. It is important that students, in particular those who are here to improve their language skills, interact with other students and get to learn about the city they will be living and studying in. Scheduled trips for 2013/14 include: a trip to the SNOZONE – indoor ski centre, a ‘spooky’ historical tour of East London, trip to Brick Lane, Camden and Portobello Markets, British Museum visit to explore the Egyptology Collection, a tour of the Olympic Village to name but a few. Trips are great fun and provide a great opportunity for students to bond over a shared experience. Over the course of the academic year there are also opportunities for students to suggest their own choice of activities and boarding staff are always happy to oblige.
