At the core of Bales is a dedication to academic standards. We seek out students of the highest calibre who will thrive in a challenging and demanding school environment. We award scholarships to those students we deem to be outstanding. With each scholarship is associated a discount on a certain proportion of the school's fee. For more information, please contact the College directly.
We offer scholarships at Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 entry.
Year 7
To be eligible to sit for the Year 7 scholarship, a student must have achieved three level 5 Key Stage 2 National Curriculum assessment (SATs) scores or be otherwise capable of demonstrating high ability. Candidates are assessed for a scholarship place on the basis of two hours' worth of examinations, covering Mathematics, use of English and reasoning skills, and two interviews.
Year 9
Students who have demonstrated consistently high ability are eligible to sit the Year 9 paper. We will typically take SATs scores or equivalent as an indicator. Candidates will be assessed by more than two hours' worth of examination and a single interview.
Year 12
For Year 12 entry students can apply for a general scholarship or subject-specific scholarships. To apply for a general scholarship, a student must have five A grades or better at GCSE. To apply for a subject-specific scholarship, a student must meet the Bales Sixth Form entry requirements and have attained an A* at GCSE in the chosen subject. Candidates are assessed by a combination of examination, interview and prepared work. Please contact the College for more information. |
